Minimal Phone 2 features QWERTY keyboard and OLED display
The Minimal Company has unveiled the Minimal Phone 2, a successor to its original distraction-reducing smartphone. Moving away from the E Ink technology used in the first generation, the new model features a 3.92-inch OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1080 x 1240 pixels.
The device retains a physical, backlit QWERTY keyboard, drawing comparisons to classic BlackBerry designs. It is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 processor and runs on a customized version of Android. Hardware specifications include 8GB or 12GB of RAM, storage options of 256GB or 512GB, and a 3,000mAh battery supporting both wired and wireless charging.
Photography capabilities are upgraded with a 50MP rear camera and a 20MP front-facing camera. The phone also includes 5G connectivity and a programmable physical switch. The Kickstarter campaign for the device has seen significant success, surpassing its initial $100,000 funding goal by over eightfold.
