Mining and utility firms launch community training programs in Peru and Chile

Minera Las Bambas, through its Employability and Development Center (CED), has launched a specialized technical training program for approximately 50 residents of the Cotabambas province in Peru. Executed by SENATI, the 136-hour program includes 106 hours of practical training and 30 hours of theory, focusing on masonry, blacksmithing, and formwork to improve local employability in the construction and civil works sectors.

In Chile, Aguas CAP and Compañía Minera del Pacífico (CMP), in collaboration with CORPROA and the Municipality of Caldera, have introduced the fourth version of the ‘Caldera Impulsa’ initiative. This program, titled ‘Entrepreneurship Route and Productive Investment Fund,’ aims to support local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through training, mentorship, and financial resources. The current iteration will select 30 participants for an intensive 20-hour in-person training program designed to foster economic growth and sustainability within the community.
