Eldorado Gold produces first copper-gold concentrate at Skouries
Eldorado Gold Corporation has announced the production of its first copper-gold concentrate at the Skouries Project in northern Greece. This milestone marks the transition of the project from the construction phase to operational status.
The first concentrate was produced on September 8, 2026, following the successful commissioning of key processing systems, including crushing, grinding, flotation, and tailings thickening circuits. The company currently holds an ore stockpile exceeding 4.6 million tonnes, which is expected to support more than seven months of processing and concentrate production.
CEO George Burns described the event as a “defining moment” for the company, noting that Skouries is one of Europe’s largest copper-gold projects and a significant investment in Greece. The project is expected to reach full commercial production in the fourth quarter of 2026. Once operational, the mine is designed to produce approximately 140,000 ounces of gold and 67 million pounds of copper annually over a 20-year lifespan. This development, alongside the McIlvenna Bay project in Canada, is intended to diversify Eldorado Gold’s production into critical minerals and precious metals.
