Mining workers protest for unpaid wages and benefits

Workers from Doruk Madencilik and Eti Gümüş, companies under Yıldızlar Holding, are continuing their protest in Ankara to demand unpaid wages, compensation, and the fulfillment of previously agreed-upon payment protocols. The workers, represented by Bağımsız Maden-İş, are also seeking the recovery of lost bonuses and social rights resulting from mandatory unpaid leave periods.

Various labor and retiree organizations have expressed solidarity with the miners. The Tarsus Labor and Democracy Platform and the Eskişehir branch of the All Retirees Union held demonstrations, stating that the miners are not seeking new privileges but rather the rights they have already earned through their labor.

CHP Elazığ Deputy Gürsel Erol criticized the mining practices in the region, noting that privatization has led to a significant decrease in employment and environmental concerns. He argued that the issue extends beyond a simple employer-employee dispute, calling for public institutions to guarantee workers' legal rights rather than suppressing their voices.
