Minister Mansukh Mandaviya promotes health at Delhi Fit India cycling event

On 5 July, the 80th ‘Fit India Sunday on Cycling’ was held at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Organized by the Fit India campaign together with the Satya Sai Seva Foundation, the community ride attracted thousands of youths, athletes, volunteers and representatives of various organisations.

Central minister Mansukh Mandaviya rode a bicycle, took the fitness pledge and told participants that a healthy citizenry is essential for India to achieve its goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047. He warned that one in four Indians is overweight or obese and said, “Cycling is a solution to pollution. It keeps us fit and reduces traffic. If more people cycle, we save fuel and foreign‑exchange earnings.”

Satya Sai Seva’s national head Nimish Pandya attended, noting the event’s moral message of “love all, serve all” and the parallel programmes taking place across the country, including a concurrent ride in Guwahati and a concluding ceremony slated for 26 July at Prashanti Nilayam. Model‑actor Nasir Abdullah also took part, praising the minister’s presence for boosting participants’ enthusiasm.
