Minister Miłosz Motyka discusses hunting and wild boar issues

During an appearance on TVN24’s ‘Kropka nad i’, Energy Minister Miłosz Motyka sparked debate regarding the participation of children in hunting. When asked by journalist Monika Olejnik about the practice, Motyka stated that if a parent takes responsibility for their child, it should be permitted. This led to a follow-up exchange where Motyka clarified that while he had not seen cases involving eight-year-olds, the decision ultimately rests with the parent.

The discussion also addressed the rising wild boar population in Warsaw. Following a resolution by the Mazovian Voivodeship Sejmik regarding population reduction, Motyka noted that local governments should make decisions in cooperation with hunters, emphasizing the necessity of resident safety.

Data from Municipal Forests indicates a significant increase in wild boar sightings in the capital. Reports rose from 4,713 in 2023 to over 14,000 between January and July 2026. During this period, 159 attacks on humans and 42 attacks on dogs were recorded, with the highest number of sightings occurring in the Białołęka and Wawra districts.
