Anak Krakatau eruption allows ASN to work from home

Following the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau, the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs has authorized local governments to implement flexible working arrangements for Civil Servants (ASN). Minister Tito Karnavian stated that regional governments may allow employees to work from home (WFH) if volcanic ash poses risks to health or safety.

The Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB) clarified that the decision to implement WFH rests with the respective agency heads or personnel appointing officers (PPK). This policy aims to prioritize the safety and health of employees while maintaining essential public services. The flexibility can be applied gradually, potentially covering up to 80 percent of the workforce depending on the emergency status and local conditions in affected areas, including parts of Banten, Lampung, West Java, and Jakarta.
