Turkey advances major rail, transport, and archaeological projects

Various regional infrastructure and cultural developments are underway across Turkey. In Konya, Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay is overseeing major rail system expansions, including the KONYARAY suburban line and the Stadium-City Hospital-Adliye tram line. The KONYARAY project is expected to complete its first 23km stage by 2027, with vehicle procurement starting in August. Additionally, the Adliye-City Hospital tram section is slated to open in September. Archaeological excavations at the Larende Gate have uncovered significant Seljuk-era city walls, which officials describe as a discovery that will impact Konya's historical understanding.

In the transportation sector, the Yerköy-Kayseri High-Speed Train (YHT) project is progressing, with the goal of connecting Ankara and Kayseri by 2028. This project aims to reduce travel times significantly, potentially allowing commuters to travel between Ankara and Kayseri in 1 hour and 45 minutes. In Kayseri, Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu met with Mayor Memduh Büyükkılıç to discuss these developments.

Other regional updates include Osmangazi Mayor Erkan Aydın's community visits in Bursa, where he discussed the conversion of the historic Kolsuz Faik Factory into a cultural and social hub. In Yahyalı, Mayor Esat Öztürk met with Minister Uraloğlu to request improved road infrastructure and connections to Adana.
