Puerto Plata receives new waste plant, bridge, and schools

President Luis Abinader conducted an extensive series of infrastructure inaugurations in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. Key developments include the opening of the Jaime Manuel Camps Power Recycling waste valorization and sanitary landfill plant. This RD$1,600 million project aims to replace open-air landfills with a controlled system, capable of processing up to 1,000 tons of waste daily and generating approximately 1,000 direct and indirect jobs.

In transportation, a new bridge over the Camú River was inaugurated, restoring the vital connection between Santiago and Puerto Plata via the Gregorio Luperón Tourist Highway following a collapse in April. The project was completed in five months.

Educational and social services also saw significant expansion. The government delivered 81 new classrooms and several educational centers, including a high school in Sosúa and the Olivia Capellá school, benefiting over 3,200 students. Additionally, the Caipi Ámbar center was opened to provide integral care for 250 children aged 0 to 5. The judicial system was also strengthened with the opening of a Justice Access Center in Villa Isabela to decentralize legal services.
