Ministry of Hajj and Umrah opens 2027 recruitment and tightens agency regulations

The Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has officially opened registration for Hajj 2027 pilgrimage officers. The recruitment process for the Hajj Organizers (PPIH) for both domestic flight groups and those stationed in Saudi Arabia will run from August 25 to August 31, 2026.

Available roles include religious guidance, accommodation, catering, transportation, media center operations, and specialized services for elderly and disabled pilgrims. Director General Puji Raharjo emphasized that selected officers must demonstrate high integrity, competence, and a strong commitment to service, noting that they serve as the face of the state to the pilgrims.

Separately, the Ministry has issued a stern warning to Umrah travel agencies (PPIU), stating that all providers must be officially licensed and accredited. Director Akhmad Fauzin highlighted that illegal practices, such as using borrowed licenses, promoting fictitious packages, or engaging in price wars that compromise service quality, will face strict sanctions. The Ministry aims to prevent issues like pilgrim abandonment, flight failures, and fraud by ensuring all travel packages include confirmed visas, flights, and accommodations.
