Ministry of Home Affairs provides 2027 holiday options for businesses
The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued guidance regarding the 2027 Lunar New Year and National Day holiday schedules for businesses and employees outside the public sector. Under Notification No. 11483/TB-BNV, employers can choose from three specific options for the Lunar New Year holiday to suit their production and business realities, provided the total number of days off meets the minimum requirements of the Labor Code.
The three proposed options for the Lunar New Year are: - Option 1: 1 day at the end of the Year of the Horse and 4 days at the start of the Year of the Goat. - Option 2: 2 days at the end of the Year of the Horse and 3 days at the start of the Year of the Goat. - Option 3: 3 days at the end of the Year of the Horse and 2 days at the start of the Year of the Goat.
For the 2027 National Day holiday, employers may grant two days of leave, consisting of September 2 and either September 1 or September 3. Employers are required to notify employees of their chosen holiday schedule at least 30 days in advance. If a weekly rest day coincides with a public holiday, employees are entitled to compensatory time off on the following working day.
