India celebrates Independence Day with cycle rally and CBI honors

In anticipation of India's Independence Day 2026, the Ministry of Law and Justice organized a cycle rally in New Delhi as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. Union Minister of State for Law and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, participated in the event held at Kartavya Bhavan.

Meghwal emphasized the symbolic importance of the national flag, stating that the saffron, white, and green colors represent valour, peace, and prosperity, respectively. He also noted that the 24 spokes of the Ashoka Chakra serve as a reminder for continuous work toward a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India). The campaign, originally launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to encourage citizens to hoist the tricolour at their homes.

Separately, 21 officers and employees of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) were honored with prestigious awards for their service. Six individuals received the President's Medal for Distinguished Service, while 15 others were awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.
