Overview

In preparation for India’s Independence Day, the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign has featured various commemorative events in New Delhi.

On August 12, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan flagged off a bike rally traveling from Bharat Mandapam to the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. Organized by the Ministry of Culture, the event also marked the 150th anniversary of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’. Radhakrishnan described the song as a unifying force that helped end colonial rule and encouraged citizens to hoist the national flag in their homes.

By August 14, the Ministry of Law and Justice organized a cycle rally at Kartavya Bhavan as part of the same campaign. Union Minister of State Arjun Ram Meghwal participated, noting that the colors of the flag represent valour, peace, and prosperity, while the Ashoka Chakra serves as a reminder to work toward a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).
