Ministry of Panchayati Raj launches DAANVEER initiative for rural digital infrastructure

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj has launched the ‘DAANVEER’ initiative, a people-led computer crowdsourcing program designed to strengthen digital infrastructure and governance in rural areas. The scheme encourages individuals and organizations to donate desktop computers directly to verified Gram Panchayats.

Donors can use the Meri Panchayat App to identify eligible Gram Panchayats that require hardware. Through the app, users are redirected to DigiHaat, an ONDC-enabled digital marketplace, where they can select standardized computer bundles that meet specific technical requirements. The process includes digital payment options and real-time tracking from dispatch to delivery.

Once a donation is acknowledged by the Gram Panchayat Secretary, donors receive a digital Certificate of Appreciation. This initiative is intended to complement existing government programs, such as the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA), to enhance digital service delivery, financial management, and record-keeping at the grassroots level.
