Ministry of Regional Development discusses Maroon Legacy Month and community projects
The Ministry of Regional Development (RO) held a management meeting led by Minister Miquella Huur to discuss ongoing projects, capacity building, and the organization of Maroon Legacy Month.
A central focus of the meeting was the Maroon Legacy Month, which includes the Maroon Legacy Fair designed to provide Marron entrepreneurs with a platform to showcase products and services. The program also features workshops and an awards ceremony to honor significant contributions to the community. The month is scheduled to conclude with a celebration on October 10.
Additionally, the ministry is preparing to mark the tenth anniversary in October of the Directorate for Sustainable Development of Indigenous Peoples (DDOI) and the Directorate for Sustainable Development of Afro-Surinamese Hinterland (DDOASB), both established in 2016. The ministry emphasized the importance of translating these activities and policy goals into tangible results for the communities they serve.
