Minneapolis school shooting documents detail police response

Newly released documents provide a detailed account of the law enforcement response to the August 27, 2025, shooting at Annunciation Church and School in Minneapolis. Records show that officers from various local, state, and federal agencies arrived within approximately three and a half minutes of the initial report.

By the time first responders arrived, the shooter, 23-year-old Robin Westman, had already sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Westman, who was armed with a rifle, shotgun, pistol, knives, and smoke bombs, died by suicide following the attack. The shooting resulted in the deaths of 8-year-old Fletcher Merkel and 10-year-old Harper Moyski, while at least 21 other children and adults were wounded.

The released files, which include nearly 1,500 photos and hundreds of pages of witness interviews and evidence, describe a widespread crime scene spanning the church, a playground, and nearby residential areas. While the documents detail the immediate triage efforts and the scale of the scene, they offer little information regarding the motive behind the attack.
