Minneapolis shooting leaves two dead and three police officers injured

A shooting at a high-rise apartment building in downtown Minneapolis left at least two people dead and several others injured, including three police officers. The incident occurred near the Minneapolis Convention Center at the Lowry Tower building on Grant Street.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while another died after being transported to Hennepin County Medical Center. The suspected shooter also died at the scene, though authorities have not confirmed the exact cause of death, with some reports suggesting suicide.

Three police officers were injured during the encounter; two sustained gunshot wounds and were reported to be in stable condition. Officers reported encountering a haze that significantly limited visibility on an upper floor of the building during their response.

Local, state, and federal agencies, including the FBI, are responding to the incident. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey have addressed the tragedy, with officials praising the bravery of the responding officers.
