Minoan Dignity struck by projectile in Strait of Hormuz
The Greek-owned bulk carrier Minoan Dignity was struck by a projectile of unknown origin while exiting the Strait of Hormuz on Monday night, August 17. The impact caused damage to the vessel's engine room.
Maritime security sources and the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) confirmed the incident. The Minoan Dignity, which flies the Liberian flag, was transiting the strategic maritime route when the strike occurred. One crew member, identified as the ship's chief engineer, was killed in the attack.
The Oman Coast Guard provided assistance to the remaining crew members. No environmental impact has been reported, and authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the strike.
