Minor Hotels to develop Australia's largest wellness resort

Minor Hotels has announced plans to develop the Avani Cypress Lakes Resort in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales, which is set to become Australia’s largest integrated wellness precinct. Spanning 137 hectares, the project will unify the existing Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort and the Elysia Wellness Retreat.

The development will feature 204 rooms and suites and is scheduled to launch in phases starting in October 2026, with full completion expected by the third quarter of 2027. Facilities will include an 18-hole golf course, 24 meeting and event spaces, three pickleball courts, an outdoor cinema, and the AvaniWell spa and wellness center, which will introduce treatment rooms, infrared saunas, magnesium pools, and outdoor cryotherapy zones to the country.

Dining options will include two concept-led restaurants, including Chakraya, which focuses on Sri Lankan culinary traditions. The resort aims to capitalize on the growing demand for experiential and flexible wellness travel in regional destinations.
