Miquel Travé wins C1 slalom gold at World Cup in La Seu d’Urgell
Miquel Travé won the gold medal in the C1 slalom canoeing event at the World Cup held in La Seu d’Urgell, Spain. Competing at the Parc Olímpic del Segre, the 26-year-old athlete completed a nearly perfect run with a time of 89.08 seconds and no penalties.
Travé secured the victory by a margin of 35 hundredths of a second over Slovenia’s Ziga Lin Hocevar. Olympic champion Nicolas Gestin took third place. Following the race, Travé noted that while the season began with adaptation challenges, winning at home was an incredible achievement that helped him secure third place in the overall standings.
In the women’s final, Miren Lazkano earned a silver medal. Although she recorded the fastest descent among the finalists with a time of 100.55 seconds, four seconds in penalties prevented her from taking the top spot.
