Mir Raza Ali investigation reveals acid traces and gunshot wounds
Investigators in Karachi are widening their probe into the death of 25-year-old businessman Mir Raza Ali, following a second post-mortem examination. Forensic findings revealed traces of acid in Ali’s stomach, on his hands and feet, and on his clothing. The examination also identified severe acid-related damage to his lungs, fractured ribs, and injuries to his head and face. A gunshot wound from the rear was also noted.
Police have detained 21 individuals in connection with the case, including business associates and friends. Additionally, six employees from a guesthouse near where the body was discovered have been questioned, and the site has been sealed.
Three critical forensic reports from the University of Karachi laboratories are expected to assist the investigation. These reports will focus on ballistic traces and evidence found on Ali’s shirt, blood analysis to determine if DNA from another individual is present, and DNA matching between Ali and his parents to confirm his identity.
While the Sindh government had initially planned to form a judicial commission to ensure transparency, the decision has been deferred following a request from the victim's parents, who expressed confidence in the current investigation team.
