Mirabai Chanu celebrates Commonwealth Games gold and eyes Asian Games medal

Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu won her third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold in Glasgow, setting new Games records of 85 kg in the snatch and 105 kg in the clean & jerk. After the victory she visited Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, presenting him a jersey signed by the entire Indian weightlifting contingent, and was welcomed at Indira Gandhi International Airport by hundreds of supporters.

Chanu said the next priority is to win a medal at the Asian Games, acknowledging the pressure of expectations and the responsibility she feels toward Indian weightlifting. She noted that an Asian Games medal would be her first at that event and pledged to work harder to achieve it.
