Mirjam Bikker calls for national unity in Netherlands

During the General Political Debates, ChristenUnie leader Mirjam Bikker called for the Netherlands to be viewed as a ‘shared house’ that requires collective responsibility. Referencing biblical wisdom, she argued that a house divided against itself cannot stand, emphasizing the need for social cohesion and community building.

Bikker’s platform includes advocating for strong families, the protection of unborn life, assistance for homeless mothers, and the preservation of schools, associations, and churches. She also highlighted the need to address modern challenges such as urban decay, the impact of migrant labor, and uncertainty within the agricultural sector.

Regarding national security, Bikker stressed the importance of investing in the military to protect future generations, particularly in light of the aggression from Russia in Ukraine. She criticized the government's focus on certain economic policies, such as Box 3 taxation, suggesting that attention should instead be directed toward the rising costs of groceries and energy for citizens.
