Argentina regional economies show growth in energy and entrepreneurship sectors

Various regional developments are shaping the economic landscape in Argentina. In Neuquén, the Vaca Muerta shale formation is driving significant economic growth. Local officials report that the province has seen an 8.6% increase in private employment and a 17% growth in the formal private wage mass between 2023 and 2025. This growth is reportedly spilling over into non-oil sectors, with poverty rates in the Neuquén-Plottier area at 19.6%, notably lower than the national urban average of 32.3%.

To support the energy sector, YPF and the Governor of Entre Ríos have signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen the supply of silica sands, a key input for Vaca Muerta. Additionally, the Zapala Free Trade Zone has expanded to 27 authorized users, aiming to become a strategic logistics hub for the energy industry.

In Misiones, Governor Hugo Passalacqua has introduced the ‘Yo Emprendedor’ digital platform to assist local businesses with administration. He also highlighted infrastructure works in Eldorado and announced the 50th anniversary of the Leandro N. Alem Beer Festival, emphasizing the importance of supporting local entrepreneurship and cultural identity.
