Miskolc mayor urges tighter security after post‑match stadium cleanup
After the UEFA Conference League qualifier between Hapoel Tel Aviv and Ludogorec Razgrad at the DVTK Stadium in Miskolc, city officials ordered an extraordinary cleanup. Approximately nine cubic metres of waste were removed from the stadium and the surrounding South‑Kilián area, prompting the mayor, Tóth‑Szántai József, to stress the city’s pride in hosting international sport while demanding that visiting fans respect the city and its public spaces.
The mayor posted on social media that future events should see greater involvement of the Miskolc Police Headquarters in security planning, citing local police knowledge of the area as essential. He also sent letters to the Hungarian Football Federation, DVTK, UEFA, the national police chief, and the clubs involved, requesting that the upcoming match against GKS Katowice on 6 August be organized with these considerations in mind. The mayor reiterated that respect for the city, its residents, and the stadium environment is a non‑negotiable expectation for all visitors.
