Miskolc stadium waste and security
Overview
After a UEFA Conference League qualifier on 25 July 2026 left roughly nine cubic metres of rubbish around the DVTK Stadium and the nearby South‑Kilián district, Miskolc’s mayor ordered an extraordinary cleanup and said the city would seek reimbursement from those responsible. He also called for greater involvement of the local police in future international events.
By 5 August 2026 the mayor reiterated these concerns, urging tighter security for the upcoming match against GKS Katowice. He sent letters to the Hungarian Football Federation, UEFA, the clubs and national police authorities, stressing that respect for the city and its public spaces is non‑negotiable and that local police knowledge should shape security planning.
