Missing 19-year-old from Fulda found safe in Lower Saxony

A 19-year-old man with Down syndrome who had been missing since Wednesday has been found safe in Lower Saxony. The young man, who lives and works at the 'antonius' facility in Fulda, was discovered by a police patrol at the Bad Gandersheim station in the Northeim district.

Following his disappearance from a facility in Fulda, a large-scale search operation was launched involving the police, the German Red Cross with rescue dogs, and various volunteer search teams. Investigators tracked his movements through public transportation, determining he had traveled via regional express trains from Fulda through Frankfurt and Cologne before reaching Bad Gandersheim. He had been captured on several surveillance cameras during his journey.

His family reported that while he appeared exhausted and dirty due to his multi-day journey, he is in “remarkably good condition.” He has since been reunited with his parents.
