Missing person search in Fulda, Germany

Overview

A 19-year-old man with Down syndrome went missing from the ‘antonius: gemeinsam Mensch’ facility in Fulda, Germany, on a Wednesday morning. Authorities launched an extensive search operation involving the East Hesse Police Headquarters, the German Red Cross, and rescue dog units, utilizing motorcycles, quads, and e-scooters to locate the individual, who was feared to be disoriented.

Three days later, the young man was found safe in the Northeim district of Lower Saxony. A police patrol discovered him at the Bad Gandersheim station. Investigations revealed he had traveled via regional express trains from Fulda through Frankfurt and Cologne. Although he appeared exhausted and dirty following his journey, his family reported he was in “remarkably good condition” and has since been reunited with his parents.
