Ostuacán, Chiapas: Bodies of girl and grandmother found after disappearance
The bodies of 12-year-old Ariana Scarlett Velázquez Cruz and her 55-year-old grandmother, Miriam Cruz Alpuche, have been recovered in Ostuacán, Chiapas, following their disappearance on October 19.
Miriam Cruz Alpuche was located on Wednesday, October 21, near a stream, wrapped in black bags and a blue tarp. Following her discovery, a search operation was intensified to find the young girl. On Friday, October 23, Ariana Scarlett's body was found in a pasture in the Ribera Tachical area.
The search involved local community members, state security forces, the State Prosecutor's Office (FGE), and Civil Protection's canine unit using search dogs Nazca and Tornado, as well as drones and a helicopter.
