Mississippi Governor Declares State of Emergency Over Tropical Storm Arthur Flooding

Governor Tate Reeves has declared a State of Emergency for areas of Mississippi affected by Tropical Storm Arthur. The storm has brought continuous heavy rain, strong winds and widespread flooding since June 15, damaging homes, businesses and public property and threatening public safety.

At least ten counties have experienced impaired roadways, disrupted energy infrastructure and damage to natural resources. The proclamation directs state agencies to mobilize resources under Mississippi’s Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan and will remain in effect until the threat ends. Residents are urged to monitor forecasts, avoid flooded roads and follow guidance from local emergency officials.
