Mississippi River Valley and Louisiana face severe thunderstorm threats
The Storm Prediction Center and the National Weather Service have issued warnings for severe weather across the lower Mississippi River Valley and portions of Louisiana. Forecasters warn of the potential for damaging winds, with gusts reaching up to 60 mph possible during intense downbursts.
While the probability of precipitation remains relatively low, there is a risk that individual storms could rapidly intensify. In addition to the threat of wind, heavy rain and small hail are possible. Heat advisories also remain in effect for much of Louisiana, with high temperatures expected to persist through the upcoming week.
