Partido Missão files criminal complaint over Flávio Bolsonaro's fraudulent affiliation
The Missão party has filed a criminal complaint with Brazil's Superior Electoral Court (TSE) following the fraudulent affiliation of presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro to the party. The complaint, signed by candidate Renan Santos, alleges ideological falsehood and intentional data alteration.
The TSE has denied that the incident resulted from a system hack, stating instead that it was caused by the 'improper use' of tools by a user associated with the Missão party. In response to the incident, TSE President Kássio Nunes Marques ordered that Flávio Bolsonaro's affiliation with the PL be restored, allowing his candidacy registration to proceed.
As a precaution, the TSE temporarily suspended the Filia party affiliation system to prevent further unauthorized entries. The court also reported a separate, unsuccessful attempt to fraudulently affiliate President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to another party. STF Minister Gilmar Mendes characterized the event as a 'bug' or 'glitch,' emphasizing that the Brazilian electoral system remains reliable.
