Mitropolitan Museum of Iași to host icon exhibition

The Mitropolitan Museum of Iași will host an icon exhibition titled ‘Chipul slavei Tale sunt’ from September 1 to September 20, 2026. Created by painter Florin Deaconiuc, the exhibition will officially open on September 1 at 17:00 in the Baptistery Hall.

The collection features ten icons painted using the traditional egg tempera technique on lime wood. The works explore themes of Christian iconography, addressing historical, theological, and social aspects of Church teachings. The series traces the relationship between the Creator and humanity, spanning from the Creation of the world and the first humans to the Final Judgment.

Notable works in the collection include ‘The Creation of the World and the First Humans’, ‘The Wedding at Cana in Galilee’, ‘The Baptism of the Lord’, and ‘Jesus Christ - The Righteous Judge’. The exhibition opening will include the artist, museum curator Mihai Alex Olteanu, and heritage specialist Vladimir Bulat.
