Art exhibitions in Romania

In late August 2026, several art exhibitions were announced for various locations in Romania.

The Mitropolitan Museum of Iași scheduled the exhibition ‘Chipul slavei Tale sunt’ from September 1 to September 20. Created by painter Florin Deaconiuc, the collection features ten icons painted with traditional egg tempera on lime wood, exploring themes ranging from the Creation of the world to the Final Judgment.

Concurrently, other contemporary art events were announced for September. In Iași, Vasile Tudor’s ‘FOTO / GRAFIC’ was set to run at the International Center for Contemporary Art – Baia Turcească from September 1 to 10, focusing on the intersection of photography and graphic imagery. In Bucharest, the Arsmonitor Gallery planned the ‘Iconoflux’ project from September 3 to October 22, which examines representations of sacred nature in Romanian contemporary art from the 1970s to the present.

Additional cultural programming includes the 22nd edition of the FREE Camp International Plastic Arts Workshop at the Metropolitan Library (BMB) in Bucharest, featuring artists from Romania, Austria, Italy, and Hungary. Also in Bucharest, the Bucharest City Museum is hosting ‘Echoes in Contemporary Heritage’ at Palatul Suțu, showcasing 70 works donated by Banca Comercială Română (BCR) to the Pinacoteca București.

Regional exhibitions include Gheorghe Pintilie’s ‘Life as a Gloss’ at the Lascăr Vorel Art Galleries in Piatra-Neamț, and dual exhibitions at the Constantin Brâncuși National Museum in Târgu-Jiu featuring Mircia Dumitrescu and the late Alina Roșca. The Târgu-Jiu event also includes the launch of the Video Forum Virtual project for Romanian artists.
