Kyriakos Mitsotakis pledges new Thessaloniki International Fair and 120‑acre park by 2030
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with Thessaloniki Mayor Stelios Aggeloudis at the Megaro Maximos, accompanied by Interior Minister Thodoris Livanis and the Prime Minister’s regional office director Michalis Bekiris. The officials discussed the redevelopment of the Thessaloniki International Fair (DETH), with Mitsotakis stating that a new DETH will be operational by 2030 while the existing venue remains in use. He also announced plans for a large metropolitan park covering 120 acres in the city centre, describing it as a major green‑space addition.
Mayor Aggeloudis called the park the "biggest demand" of the project and urged swift implementation, emphasizing the expected boost to residents’ quality of life and the city’s image. Both sides agreed to coordinate closely with municipal authorities and other agencies to accelerate the design competition and construction timeline.
