Mitsubishi confirms Pajero SUV revival as Montero for North American market

Mitsubishi Motor has announced that its discontinued Pajero off‑road SUV will return under the Montero nameplate. The new model, built on the same ladder‑frame platform as the Triton pickup, will feature a boxy design, higher ground clearance and a digital instrument cluster, targeting competitors such as the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado.

The reveal was made to a group of about 180 Mitsubishi dealers in the United States and Canada, where the vehicle is slated for launch around 2030. Alongside the Montero, Mitsubishi also previewed next‑generation Outlander and Outlander Sport models and outlined a broader product plan that includes a mid‑size pickup and a shift toward hybrid powertrains for post‑2027 releases.
