Mitsubishi Electric to open Ohio plant for data‑center cooling equipment

Mitsubishi Electric announced the creation of MEHITS US Inc in Mason, Ohio, investing about $30 million to convert part of its automotive electronics facility into a factory for IT cooling equipment.

The plant will occupy roughly 14,000 m² of floor space within a 60,000 m² complex, with production scheduled to begin in April 2027 and an annual capacity of about 6,000 cooling units by 2030. Local manufacturing is aimed at shortening lead times, ensuring a stable supply and tailoring products to U.S. customers, including liquid‑cooling systems for AI‑intensive data centers.

The cooling technology is developed by Mitsubishi Electric Hydronics & IT Cooling Systems SpA in Italy and will be sold together with power‑supply solutions from Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, which already serves the U.S. market.
