Mitsubishi expands Pajero SUV range in Australia, plans RAV4-sized off‑road model
Mitsubishi Motors will reintroduce the Pajero SUV to Australian showrooms by the end of 2026, marking the first model of a broader Pajero lineup. The company plans to follow the ladder‑frame Pajero with two additional SUVs bearing the Pajero name. One will be a larger, Toyota RAV4‑sized, off‑road‑focused vehicle slated for release in 2028 or 2029 as a more rugged alternative to the Mitsubishi Outlander. A third, smaller kei‑class model is expected around 2030 and could revive the Pajero Mini name.
The new models will be built on a dedicated Mitsubishi platform, using some Outlander components to reduce development costs, but will not be rebadged Nissan vehicles despite the brands’ alliance within the Renault‑Nissan‑Mitsubishi group. The expanded range aims to compete directly with the popular Suzuki Jimny in the Australian market.
