Mitsubishi expands presence in Poland through MEDCOM acquisition and EV partnerships
Mitsubishi Electric has announced plans to acquire a 100 percent stake in the Polish company MEDCOM, subject to regulatory approvals. The transaction is expected to close by the first half of the fiscal year ending March 2027. MEDCOM, which specializes in electrical devices for rail vehicles and urban electric transport, will serve as a key base for Mitsubishi Electric to develop and produce high-performance power electronics for the European market.
In a separate development related to electric mobility, the Polish project Electromobility Poland is moving forward through a partnership with Foxtron, a subsidiary of Foxconn. The collaboration involves the use of Foxtron's vehicle designs, such as the Bria, which may be marketed under the Mitsubishi brand (specifically as the Mitsubishi ASX VR-e in certain markets). This partnership is expected to influence the future of the Polish electric vehicle project, potentially utilizing Foxtron's existing architectures to ensure efficiency and competitive pricing.
