Polish electric vehicle industry development

Overview

The development of the Polish electric vehicle sector has progressed through strategic acquisitions and significant state funding. Mitsubishi Electric announced plans to acquire a 100 percent stake in MEDCOM, a Polish specialist in electrical devices for rail and urban transport, to establish a base for producing power electronics for the European market.

Simultaneously, the ElectroMobility Poland (EMP) project has secured nearly 4.5 billion PLN from the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) via the National Recovery Plan. These funds are directed toward the Polish Electromobility Hub in Jaworzno, with production of the first electric vehicle models expected by 2029. This initiative involves cooperation with Foxconn and Foxtron Vehicle Technologies to utilize international vehicle architectures and develop a local supply chain and research centers.
