Mitsubishi Motors expands EV lineup with new models for Oceania and North America

Mitsubishi Motors is expanding its electric vehicle lineup with new model launches in the Oceania and North American markets.

In Australia and New Zealand, the company plans to introduce the ASX VR-e in the fourth quarter of 2026. This new battery electric vehicle (BEV) is being developed in collaboration with Italian design house Pininfarina and Taiwanese EV manufacturer Foxtron. The ASX VR-e will follow the Outlander Sport HEV as part of Mitsubishi’s next-generation electrified model rollout.

In North America, Mitsubishi Motors North America has announced that the Eclipse Sportback EV is scheduled for release in autumn 2026. This model, which is an OEM version of the new Nissan Leaf, will feature standard compatibility with the North American Charging System (NACS), allowing users to access the Tesla Supercharger network. The vehicle supports up to 150kW fast charging, capable of charging from 10% to 80% in approximately 35 minutes.

These developments are part of Mitsubishi’s ‘Momentum 2030’ mid-term management plan, which focuses on electrification, product lineup expansion, and modernizing sales models.
