Mitsubishi unveils fifth-generation Pajero flagship SUV
Mitsubishi Motors has officially unveiled the fifth generation of its flagship Pajero SUV, marking the return of the iconic off-roader after a multi-year hiatus. The new model is designed with a focus on “Confidence, Comfort, and Prestige,” blending rugged capability with premium features.
Built on a reinforced ladder-frame chassis derived from the Triton pickup, the Pajero features a 2.4-litre turbo-diesel engine producing approximately 204 horsepower and 480 Nm of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It includes the Super Select 4WD-II system and Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) for enhanced off-road performance. The interior offers a seven-seat configuration and advanced technology, including dual 14.3-inch displays.
Production will take place in Thailand, which will serve as the first market for the vehicle. Following the Thai launch, the Pajero is scheduled to enter markets in Japan and Australia during fiscal year 2026. Mitsubishi plans to expand the model's availability to approximately 100 countries, including regions in Latin America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, starting in fiscal year 2027. The company also indicated plans to expand the Pajero nameplate to include compact and small SUV variants in the future.
