Mitsubishi Pajero and Volkswagen ID. Polo unveiled for 2026 launch

Mitsubishi Motors announced that the next‑generation Pajero SUV will be officially presented on 2 September 2026 in a coordinated global event. The model will inherit the Triton truck chassis, feature a 2.4‑litre turbo‑diesel engine delivering 204 hp, and will be offered with a plug‑in‑hybrid version – a 2.4‑litre gasoline engine combined with two electric motors for a total of 252 hp. Pricing in Japan is expected to range from 5 million to 7 million yen (about R$180 k‑R$250 k). Production is planned at Mitsubishi’s Thailand plant, which the company intends to turn into a hub for hybrid utility‑vehicle exports.

Volkswagen introduced the ID. Polo, the electric successor to the long‑running Polo, after its world debut in late April 2026. Built on the MEB+ platform, the five‑seat hatchback offers three power outputs – 116 hp, 135 hp and 211 hp – and battery options of 37 kWh (LFP) for up to 329 km range or 52 kWh (NMC) for up to 455 km. Prices start at €24 702 for the Trend trim and €28 544 for the Life trim, with full VAT deduction possible for business customers. The model aims to sustain Volkswagen’s European electrification strategy.
