Mitsubishi Pajero to utilize AdBlue for diesel engine efficiency
The fifth-generation Mitsubishi Pajero will require AdBlue to meet stricter emissions standards. The use of AdBlue, which helps reduce nitrous oxide (NOx) emissions by mixing with exhaust gases in the catalytic converter, aligns the Pajero with competitors such as the Toyota Prado and Ford Everest.
Mitsubishi Australia product strategy manager Rod Pinedo noted that while the requirement adds an extra maintenance element for owners, it allows the vehicle to comply with Euro 6d criteria. The Pajero features an updated 2.4-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine derived from the Triton, making it the first Mitsubishi diesel to achieve Euro 6d certification.
This certification places the Pajero ahead of the Euro 5-homologated Prado, Everest, and Tank 500 in terms of emissions standards. The vehicle claims a fuel economy as low as 7.1L/100km, which is more efficient than the Toyota Prado's 7.6L/100km.
