Mitsubishi reveals technical details for reborn Pajero SUV

Mitsubishi Motors has revealed technical details for the upcoming generation of the Pajero SUV, confirming the vehicle will return to a rugged ladder-frame chassis. This marks a departure from the monocoque construction used in previous third and fourth-generation models, signaling a focus on heavy-duty off-road capability.

The new Pajero will feature the company’s Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) system, which integrates vehicle dynamics to optimize handling and stability across various terrains. The chassis will be paired with a specialized suspension system designed to balance off-road durability with reduced body movement and vibration to improve passenger comfort during long-distance driving.

The vehicle is scheduled for a world premiere in autumn 2026. Initial models are expected to launch with a 2.4-litre twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine, with plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain options expected to join the lineup at a later stage.
