Mitsubishi to launch ASX VR-e electric crossover
Mitsubishi Motors is expanding its electric vehicle lineup with the introduction of the ASX VR-e, a new battery electric crossover. The vehicle is a collaborative development involving the Italian design firm Pininfarina and the Taiwanese EV manufacturer Foxtron. The model is largely based on the Foxtron Bria, which features a design tailored for the Mitsubishi brand with specific styling touches for the front, rear, cabin, and wheels.
Technical specifications for the base model include a 230-hp rear-mounted electric motor and a 57.7-kWh LFP battery, providing an estimated 320 miles (516 km) of NEDC driving range. A high-performance dual-motor version offers 400 hp, all-wheel drive, and a 0-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds, with a range of approximately 290 miles (466 km). The vehicle supports 134-kW DC fast charging, capable of charging from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes.
Mitsubishi plans to launch the ASX VR-e in the New Zealand market in the fourth quarter of 2026. The rollout will include four different grades: GSR, Exceed, XLS, and LS.
