Mitsubishi unveils all-new Pajero flagship SUV

Mitsubishi Motors has unveiled the all-new Pajero, a redesigned flagship SUV intended to serve as the brand’s next-generation cornerstone. The vehicle features a ladder-frame chassis, a 2.4-liter turbo-diesel engine producing 204 horsepower and 480 Nm of torque, and an eight-speed automatic transmission. It is equipped with Super Select 4WD-II and advanced driver assistance systems.

Initial launches are scheduled for Thailand, followed by Japan and Australia during fiscal 2026. Mitsubishi plans to expand the model's presence to approximately 100 countries, including markets in Latin America and the Middle East, starting from fiscal 2027. In Australia, pricing for the new Pajero is expected to start around AU$68,490, positioning it as a competitive alternative to the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado.

Beyond the flagship model, Mitsubishi President Keisuke Kishiura announced plans to expand the Pajero family to include compact and small utility vehicles. This lineup expansion may include an urban SUV to compete with the Toyota RAV4 around 2028 or 2029, and a smaller kei-class model potentially arriving by 2030.
