Denmark allocates 43 million DKK for coastal and nature tourism

The Danish government has initiated the distribution of 43 million DKK from the tourism reserve to support the strategic development of coastal and nature tourism. Dansk Kyst- og Naturturisme will manage these funds, working with municipalities and destination companies to implement sustainable growth initiatives. The investment aims to address an investment backlog in accommodation capacity and facilities identified by Dansk Industri.

Separately, Jeppe Møller Herskind, CEO of HORESTA, has criticized the concept of tourism taxes, labeling them an ineffective tool for managing congestion. Citing Amsterdam as an example where high taxes failed to reduce visitor numbers, he argued that such taxes unfairly burden the hotel industry while failing to address the root causes of tourism pressure. He suggested that Denmark should focus on better visitor flow management and regulating short-term rentals instead.
