Mizo Zirlai Pawl seeks government intervention on agency conduct and education issues

The Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), a prominent student organization in Mizoram, has approached state authorities to address several grievances regarding central governance and education.

In a meeting with Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena, the MZP raised concerns over the activities of central investigating agencies, including the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and the Income Tax Department. The organization alleged that these agencies have conducted operations in the state without the knowledge or approval of the Mizoram government and police, leading to the harassment of traders and the general public.

Additionally, the MZP met with Governor Vijay Kumar Singh to discuss unfilled engineering seats at Matrusri Engineering College in Hyderabad. Seven seats allotted to Mizoram under the Central pool quota remain vacant, causing difficulties for local students. The Governor has pledged to raise the matter with the Union Education Minister. The delegation also discussed drug awareness campaigns and reforms to the Mizoram Public Service Commission to restore student confidence.
