Mizoram drug busts: Methamphetamine and heroin seized, 3 arrested

The Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and local law enforcement, conducted two separate operations in Mizoram resulting in the seizure of drugs valued at approximately 6.35 crore rupees and the arrest of three individuals.

In the first operation in the Seling area of Aizawl district, a joint team intercepted two vehicles and recovered 6.991 kilograms of methamphetamine tablets, valued at roughly 5.59 crore rupees. Two suspects were arrested during this raid, and the materials were handed over to the NCB for legal action under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

A second operation took place in Lungwar, Khawzawl district, following intelligence regarding drug trafficking. Working with the state's Excise and Narcotics Department, officials searched a suspect and seized 382.03 grams of heroin, worth approximately 76.40 lakh rupees. The suspect and the seized narcotics were transferred to the Excise and Narcotics Department office in Champhai for further investigation.
